Litematica vs WorldEdit vs Schematica
Updated Aug 2026
Three tools, three jobs. The short version: Litematica to build by hand in survival, WorldEdit to paste instantly in creative or on your server, and Schematica only for old versions.
Litematica .litematic
A client-side Fabric mod. It doesn't place blocks for you — it shows the build as a hologram and helps you place each block correctly, so it works in survival and on servers where you don't have creative or WorldEdit. This is what most builds on this site target. Layer-by-layer view and a material list are the headline features.
WorldEdit .schem
A server/singleplayer plugin/mod that edits the world directly. //paste drops an entire build in an instant. Perfect for creative and for operators building on a server, but it needs WorldEdit installed and the permissions to run it.
Schematica .schematic
The original schematic mod, using the legacy .schematic format. It's effectively retired — unmaintained for modern versions. Only reach for it if you're on a very old Minecraft version; otherwise use Litematica.
