How to Install Litematica
Updated Aug 2026
Litematica is a client-side mod that shows a schematic as a ghost hologram in your world and helps you place it block by block — the tool most builds on this site are made for. It runs on Fabric. Here's the whole setup.
1. Install Fabric
Download the Fabric installer, run it, pick your Minecraft version, and install. Launch the game once with the new fabric-loader profile so the mods folder is created (it lives next to saves in your .minecraft directory).
2. Add the two mods
Litematica needs one dependency, MaLiLib. Download both for your exact Minecraft version from their official pages, then drop the two .jar files into mods:
- MaLiLib — the shared library Litematica is built on.
- Litematica — the schematic mod itself.
Also install Fabric API if it isn't already in your mods folder — most Fabric mods expect it.
3. Launch and check
Start Minecraft on the Fabric profile. Open Mods from the title screen and confirm Litematica and MaLiLib are listed. In game, the default key to open the Litematica menu is M.
Version matters: a mod built for 1.21.1 won't load on 1.20 or on a different major version. Match all three — Fabric, MaLiLib and Litematica — to your Minecraft version.
