How to Import and Build a Schematic

Updated Aug 2026

Once you've installed Litematica, loading a build takes about a minute.

Litematica (.litematic)

  1. Download the .litematic file and put it in .minecraft/schematics (create the folder if it isn't there).
  2. In game, press MLoad Schematics, pick the file, and choose Load.
  3. Press MSchematic Placement to position the hologram where you want it. Rotate and mirror here if needed.
  4. Turn on the layer view (the Page Up/Down keys move the render layer) and build up one layer at a time. With Easy Place mode on, holding the place key snaps blocks straight into the ghost.

.schem (WorldEdit)

Sponge .schem files are for WorldEdit (creative or a server you run). Put the file in plugins/WorldEdit/schematics (or config/worldedit/schematics on Fabric), then in game:

//schem load buildname
//paste

WorldEdit pastes the whole build instantly at your position — great for creative, where Litematica shines for surviving-building it by hand.
